You can call me Noi! This blog consists of my thoughts. I am just a simple person with BIG dreams! Like the charcoal, hot pressure and extreme heat must be present in order to create a Diamond. I am in the exact same process.

Marathon

one step at a time

The weather is so hot. I am perspiring profusely. Felt so tired. I want to stop running and sit down and rest. My legs, I almost cannot feel them anymore. Breathe in, breathe out, I am panting. I am so tired, I thought to myself. Let me just rest for a while.

No! I heard a voice from my head. If I stop now, I will have difficulties getting up again. I will be even more tired if I rest now. I have to finish off this race. I have to keep on running, I have to. People are counting on me, I cannot let them down.

I have to keep on running on this track, its already here. I just have to follow it.
As I kept on running and running, I saw my Britt team mates. They were running at different tracks, and at different speed. Some waved at me, signaling me to catch up. I am coming, I mouthed to them.

On my left were people sitting on the stands. They had their arms crossed. I could almost here them whisper, “She is not going to make it. She is too weak.”

I chose to ignore them.

On right was different. The people were standing and cheering and clapping. “Keep going! Keep the faith! We know you can do it!” I smiled. I was empowered. I saw Margaret’s face in the crowd. She gave me a thumb up. Thank you for the reassurance, I mouthed.

Next to me and behind me, were my own team mates, running just like me. We are all so tired, but we kept running and running. I cannot give up, I thought. I have to keep on running so that we can finish this race together.

Suddenly, one of them fell down. I turned around, ran to her, picked her up and continue running together. Its ok, I said, sometimes we will fall down. We just need to get back up. The only reason why we fall is so that we can carry ourselves up. Get back up, I said, I will hold your hand.

So we ran together, a whole team of us. Run, run. We will finish this race together. I can see Samina waving at us. She is already waiting there. She knows we will finish this race. 1 mile at a time, she said. You will get there, she continued.

I nodded in agreement.

So we kept running, this is not a 100 metre race. This is a marathon. Pace yourselves, we will finish this race. Finishhhhhhh it off!

The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather, a lack of will. - Vince Lombardi
