A very rare movie review

Ok. I am so enjoying the long weekend. Today was a last minute decision to go to Wild Wild Wet and yes I think I may just be the only person you know who has never gone there. It was truly my first time there and there were so many people, mostly non chinese like malays, indians, koreans, europeans and other nationalities that I am unsure of. Anyway I think its a great place for kids as well as adults! I was hanging around the children's water playground with the kids and even after they had gone up for the slide I was still hanging around there with my auntie.

I also got to scream my heads off when we took the 'Ular lah', first time ok. Yes thank you my cousins were laughing at me. Haha. I wish I had more pictures to share with you but since I was the camera woman and I was all wet, I did not get to snap as many pictures as I wanted. Ok, I only have 2 pathetic pictures but better than nothing right?

Some of my cousins came later and thus are not in the picture. Ok we have to plan better next time, perhaps we can go slightly earlier in the morning so that we do not need to rush off to catch zohor prayers.

Bestie handed me a malay movie on Saturday. Yup, she just handed me a movie and asked me to watch it. My first question was of course: "Is this a love story?"

She is so smart as she know how much I don't like love stories because most are unreal, lame and makes me cry. I think she thinks this is exactly what I need, at this point of time. Right dearie? Anyway my dad was home yesterday which means he controls the tv so I asked if they (the family) wanted to watch it. They were extremely excited (suprisingly!) and played it and even said that the 'eclipse' is due to me watching a malay movie:p

You probably know by now that I do not watch a lot of tv, movies, especially malay movies. Hah. Remember that when you buy me a gift haha.

Anyway this movie has Afdlin and you know I love Afdlin because he is so funny. I think the most talented and creative actors in Malaysia are Afldin and Abg Saiful though I think Abg Saiful already knows he IS talented and creative. Wahaha.

What I thought was so special about this movie are the movie angles and how the storyline goes smooth and subtle. I like how the storyline tapped onto my curiosity. It is easy to get hooked on the movie as soon as it started and I was completely mesmerized by it. Even with my dad being the unwanted narrator in the background.

The dialogues, the story, the beautiful potrayal of the city, its so professional done. I almost could not believe it was a Malaysian movie. The movie revolves around 3 different storylines, each centred by 3 characters, Adam, Sufi and Imaan. I do not know how to watch Afdlin not being funny. I also had a hard time believing how any guy could turn down someone as beautiful and gorgeous as Nasha Aziz even when she is a bit of a loony.

I am very happy to say that I only teared once during the movie, which is pretty weird considering that I can be quite a crybaby watching this kind of movies. Ice queen making a comeback? Perhaps. Even though I thought Sufi's story was the most crappy, I mean why wait for someone when she is already married with a child coming? That is just plain stupid.

However, the scene at the end where Sufi's son, Ashraff, handed Marya the rubber band that she gave Sufi when they first met was the point I could not witheld my tears. That is so touching.

Anyway my dad, even after endless narrating of the movie, said that the moral of this story is how everyone can loose their first love but they will eventually find a second or perhaps a third love. It is just that sometimes people take a long time to move on and move forward from their first love that went away, that it hinders them from truly finding their next love. I hope YOU, like me, will get this message too.

Wonderful message indeed :)
