I apologize for being away from this blog. It has been really hectic week for me, as expected and I am soooo happy that its Friday tomorrow. Yay. I know its pathetic to start counting down to the weekend but seriously that is a sign that something needs to be change. There is no way this can be continuous. Munir mentioned about this recession that is happening NOW and how people are living in fear of being laid off. Its terrible and yes I know it because I have felt it before.
Of course not in this job.
Which reminds me, the campaign to hire more teachers is hilarious to me. They are really going all out to get more teachers and while I think this campaign is great, I also think that one should really really make sure that they wanna be in this line. Seriously, its not a decision that you can take back because of the bond thingy and the piling paperwork. This is the exact same reason why I never ever wanted to be the traditional teacher!
My principal also spoke about this on Wednesday about how if they think that teaching is not suitable for them, please leave before you robbed the children of their learning. Being in this line for the pay is really not worth it. I totally agree with her.
Anyway, I absolutely love what I do, and even though this week has been exhausting with me rushing up and down and no time to photocopy worksheets, do lesson plans, and the other misc things that I have to do (yup I am an expert at catering food now :p) I had so many aww moments with my boys. It was so great to see Ashwin dropping by from secondary school to see me, he seems so tall and its really wonderful that they still continue to be grateful to me.
Apparently secondary school is not great because there are no dyslexia classes there! Haha.
I was also suprised that Nat confided certain things in me and it was so adorable when he paused in the middle of it and asked me, "Are you going to tell Mr Chia what I am telling you?"
I know. Like girls. Haha.
Its great that he feels like he can talk to me, suddenly I find myself not just a teacher to him, but a listener and a friend to him. Hahaa..my P6 boys these year are world's apart from each other and thus they just cannot get along. I had to stop all the throwing of things and words at each other and I was so fed up with this childish behavior that I finally asked them to start learning to get along with each other or we are not learning anything at all!
Seriously, you do not want to see me angry. Its ugly. (Thank goodness it doesnt happen too often.)
I also cannot bear to cancel some classes so that I allow some time for me to do admin and misc stuffs. They look so dissapointed whenever I tell them to go back to class or class will be canceled. Is this normal??!!
Still, I do know that I have to pace myself or I will be burnt out very soon. Partner seems to be walking around in a daze with so many 'SOS' situations and boys to attend to. I still think she is doing fantastic though. I shall remain positive ok! Its only the second week of school!
On a more personal note, I have been in deep thoughts about a lot of things that has left me unsure. If you know me, you will know that I am seldom unsure about a lot of things. What is left is to dua and ask for clarity from the Almighty.
It seems to be my only weapon for now. May Allah give the clarity, the hope and the strength to keep on believing.
