Calling / Saturday, August 29, 2009 @ 10:41 PM
Calling Hello world, Happy Saturday!! Today was a full packed day for me as always. I was contemplating whether to be in school or not for an event. I was scheduled to show board plan that I have been so looking forward to do. At last I decided to go for the plan instead. It was not a difficult decision, I had to prioritize family. This was a really draggy week mainly because of the invigilation. I would 100 times prefer to teach than sit down and do nothing but stare at the boys do their exams. My whole timetable was suspended and classes were canceled and I keep getting the questions: - Why dont have class? - Are you sick again? - Why never take me? - Why you cancel class? - Why no buddy reading? yada yada yada etc. In fact, on Thursday, I bumped into Ethan (P1 boy) and he came to me asking why I did not take him for classes. I informed him that we had exams and I was on mc and meetings the previous week. He went and say, "Take me now lah." So adorable. But also so hyper. Talking about hyper. Did a joint project with jc students from the village. I was not very keen but since my VP sent the email, I felt obligated to do this. Anyway, I did not do much except the admin part involving consent forms. While it was a good attempt, I wished the jc students would have discussed with me in detail. Clearly they were inexperienced, and they were not able to control the hyper and rowdy boys in the beginning (despite me warning them in advance). Even the explanation part was messy, with everyone talking at the same time. Who is actually listening?! Perhaps they thought that things would be picture perfect. Haha. I was also the most displeased when I found errors, grammar, tense, plural/singular in the handout they gave my boys to bring home. Unfortunately I only realised it after they had gone home and I most certainly hoped that the parents did not think that it was me who did the errors. There were also no instructions so no wonder my boys were blur. Drawings and design were great though, very creative but language, not so good. Hmm, I thought jc students are supposed to be proficient in the english language (like my dearie cousin who writes beautiful and proper english language). Nevertheless, I thought the boys enjoyed themselves. Imagine having 9 hyper boys in a room with a ball. Chaos. ![]() The last few minutes were used to pose for pictures. ![]() Ok I do not think these jc students will ever choose to become teachers after this experience. Haha. Since I was quite free this week with the invigilation, I used the time to catch up on some reading. My habit is to read 2 books at one time, when one gets too dry or boring, I switch books. I completed this book by Og Mandino, The Greatest Success in the World. I am not sure if its on the Britt book list. ![]() I love all Og Mandino's books! I hope I get to read all of his books befoe I die. Haha! A Better Way to Live is my next book in line. I cannot wait!! At his last chapter, he said this: You cannot choose your calling. Your calling choose you. Through my interactions with the young minds, I realised that many people do not know what they want to do in life, they are still in the process of looking for their calling. One thing is for sure, you will never find your calling by sitting at home and not interacting with others. The current Book of the Month really showed me the power of communication and interacting with people. We never know what value each individual brings for us. So let your calling find you, while you take each obstacle as an opportunity to learn and discover things about yourself you may never know. I am glad I found my calling. All 3 of them!! I have been quite happy with myself, simply because I was disciplined to do what I had to do. Sometimes I am tired and I want to rest but I went on anyway because THAT is what seperates the new me from the old me. Duckie's BOB class over at Kovan on Friday was really high intensity, my goodness. I dont know whether I cannot keep up or that I was fasting and it was almost evening time. He is so hyper! Maya and me decided to give him a cake in conjuction with Teachers' Day and he was sooooo appreciative. Very cute. First time mah..anyway even though his BOB is messy, I still enjoy his classes. It was great to have company throughout the evening. After we break fast, went back to do KB at 7.30 pm. This time I had the energy, thank goodness for water. Haha. I have reached magic number 10! Yay! I must say, its earlier than expected but I think fasting, doing workouts as per normal, running for bus 63, carrying heavy bag and running all over the place for meetings and appointments have got a lot to do with this quick result! Haha. Next 10! Here I come! Combine PASE 30/8/09, Sunday, 2 pm (STP), 3 pm: PASE OneSingapore Building |
