You can call me Noi! This blog consists of my thoughts. I am just a simple person with BIG dreams! Like the charcoal, hot pressure and extreme heat must be present in order to create a Diamond. I am in the exact same process.

Thank God Its Friday! / Friday, June 30, 2006 @ 11:02 PM

Yippie! Thank God its Friday! I have been looking forward to this long weekend all week. Its been an extremely physically and mentally exhausting week for me and my legs are showing signs that they cant walk fast anymore. Why I say its a 3 day long weekend for me is because its Youth Day on Monday! Woohoo! Therefore the school will be closed for the kids and what does that mean to me? I aint working! Yippie!
If anyone can enlighten me on the defination of the word 'busy', please do so. People use it all the time as though they are proud being busy, like it keeps them in the higher status or something. This entire week I have been leaving home at 7.30 in the morning and coming home only after 10 pm due to meetings, workshop, and appoinments. And I dont think I am busy. Yes, I am tired, but who isnt if they are working more than 8 hours and day? Ironically, the people who have been giving me the 'I'm busy' excuse are not as 'busy' as me. Someone once told me that if people say that they are busy, it just means that they do not know how to organize their time. Successful people always manage to plan their time and they dont call themselves 'busy'.
Anyway, I have been meeting up a lot of chickens lately and it sucks. I hope to meet some Eagles now...if they are not hiding... metaphorically speaking of course.
I think I have a serious problem. Just now we had Youth Day celebration in school and the teachers had to perform. It was so entertaining to watch. My 2 colleagues and me were sitting behind enjoying the show when WE were asked to take the stage to sing with them! Coincidently, before that, they had just finished singing the song 'Greatest Love Of All' and it was so touching. My eyes were watery. Damn, what is wrong with me? I am not even leaving yet for goodness sake! It was right about that time when I was trying to wipe the water away that they has asked to go on stage. Luckily no one saw anything. Haha. We sang the song, 'If We Hold On Together' and again a very sad song, but thank goodness I didnt cry on stage hahaha. I was looking at some of my students' faces who have all of the teachers a standing ovation.
I am enjoying every minute here but the running up and down the stairs is taking its toll on me and I just hope to find a good pair of support shoes before Tuesday.
Just now, I was working with this girl who is so lovely. She looks just like any other kid out there but she has a problem with coordinating herself like taking the stairs. She has to look down to make sure she places her feet exactly at the next step. If not, she will miss and a step and fall. I realised at the end of the day that she was wearing her shoes wrong. Her left shoe was on her right feet and vice versa. It has been a whole day and she didnt even feel the discomfort. I also had to teach her how to colour using the colour pencils. For most kids, picking up the colour pencil of their choice and colouring it onto the paper is pretty simple and automatic. But for her, I had to tell her to let the colour pencil go in the direction of up and down before she can colour properly. I was told that her mum had given up on her and that made me feel even more sorry for her.
I know that to help these kids, I have to stop feeling sorry for them. I just dont know how to do that! But I am still learning and I am still no expert to determine what these kids can and cannot do.
A friend of mine has refered me to this site. Apparently there are sixteen distinct personality types in the currently most widely-accepted Personality Type model. Each type has its own characteristics which can be identified in individual personalities. You can take the test here. I fall under the personality Duty Fulfillers (ISTJ). This test is pretty accurate, as I was nodding my head away while reading the test result. I have always believe that getting to know oneself is always a journey that will eventually lead you to being more comfortable as a person. Dont forget to tell me your results..if you want to, of course.
1 thing that I discovered about myself was the ability to sense about someone. I dont really know how to explain but somehow I can sense if I can get along with the person I just met. However I always seem to brush it aside as I dont think it is fair to base someone on your instincts. Maybe I have this power of sensing that a person isnt completely honest or lying. Its instincts and I am seldom wrong when I follow it.
Meanwhile, someone that has no problem with their identity is still feeling meh. How come no one has gone over to cheer him up? He is only going to be here for 1 more day so hurry up and pay him a visit over at Pile of Dog Bones. Did I mention that he was my former landlord? He treated me well the other time so I hope you guys will help me make his stay comfortable here. There is kinda of a drama happening there. You wanna go visit!
