True Wealth So I am almost done with the Hari Raya visiting. It seems so fast, mainly because I visited friends in the first week of Raya. It is good, although I am trying my very best not to eat too much food. I think it has been going great, as I take very little food from each house so that I will not feel too full. As you know, Hari Raya visiting is a good time to meet people and listen to what people have been going through for the past year. This year, I was able to listen more, simply because I chose to talk less. I realise that some people can be the best planners in the world about how their life should be, and how their future should be, but they are all lacking in one thing. They have no back up plan. For instance, maybe your plan can be to work until you are financially stable and then maybe you want to start your own business then. My question to them is, what is the definition of financially stable? Also, why do you want to start your own business? For profit? For fun or even perhaps it can just be a hobby. I know sometimes these people may think that they are on top of everything. Thats great, confidence is always a good thing. However, in any situation, any plan, there must be a Plan B. Thats what most people fail to see and do. It is pity really because most of them are really talented and if they pursue their dream persistently, they will get what they want. But they must NEVER be afraid to fail first before being successful. Perhaps I am used to failing, it has shaped me to be a person not afraid of failure. Yes, I did fail in poly, it was a terrible time. I also failed a couple of years ago as a business owner, simply because I did not know enough. But here I am, standing stronger than ever, definately more wise than before because in the end I know that Allah swt has a plan for me. I have seen so many people quit when they experience a small failure, I can tell you that they will never make it big, unless they decide to free themselves from the worry and fear of failure. So I have this relative of mine who is super talented and her attempts to start a business has failed, twice. She is so talented and I even offered to do the marketing for her (cos she really sucks at it) while she can concentrate on the production of the products. She then said to me that its taking a lot of her time and she could not afford it. And now she has started a whole new business! So again, when I asked her, where are you going with this business? For profit or for hobby? She couldnt make up her mind. What a pity. Poverty has got nothing to do with money and that money does not produce wealth. Wealth is what a person knows, and what they do with what they know. Knowing is not power. Applying what you know, is power. It also pains me to see some people close to me using the x brands in their homes. Chemicals exist in almost all the products they are using and their ignorance will come back and hurt them one day. I hope I am wrong, but please for the goodness of your children and grandchildren, open up your freaking minds and do some research. Go to the library, read books, learn something. Just because we are no longer in school does not mean we should stop reading altogether. Ok, today was wonderful as I wished the boys good luck in their exams. I made them promise me to attempt all questions and not leave their papers blank. Even though what Nathaniel wrote in his test paper was hilarious, the teacher blew his top when he knew about it! Haha. The boys are also asking me to have lessons after the exams. Hmm...tell me, in the history of the world, has any student ever asked their teacher to give them lessons after the exams??!! I shall reconsider their request (haha!) but it is pretty boring when I have no lessons with them. So I shall be enjoying my journey to NIE tommorow. Maybe I should start charging people when they keep inviting me to speak! Woohoo. |
