All you need is......

Ok I had a really interesting day in school. My first meeting was at 8 am with J's father who, halfway through the meeting I realise that he is just as dyslexic has his child. I was there literally spelling every single word for him to fill up the form. I remembered saying clearly for him to write 'P3 and P1' and he wrote '3P and 1P'. Hmm..still, I find the fathers are the ones who can empatize with the boys the most because most of the time, they were also in the same situation when they were in school.

My next meeting was about this child who, on the first day of school simply refuses to follow any of the school rules! Yes, from the descriptions from many teachers and of course my partner in crime, he was running all over the place, defying authority etc. And because he is big, a lot of teachers could not stop and refrain him.
So I was specially requested to sit in the meeting as the mum stated that he is dyslexic which means, most likely, he will come under my care. To my suprise, the 'famous' student was actually the brother of one of my existing student! I was shocked, bewildered by the background of this whole family because it is so terribly messy, no wonder the kids are confused and emotionally unhealthy. The mom also mentioned the even his grandparents are afraid of him! He also used to kick teachers in his kindergarten and it took them 2 years to control him.

How can a 7 year old kid be like this?

Soo, I wanted to sit in and observe the boy myself during dismissal and there he was sitting on the floor in the hall playing with others. He is so cute and fat, and had an ang moh look. His mom also mentioned that it is difficult to even love him when he is doing all these other things to annoy and make others angry.

NO matter what, I do not believe that I cannot tame this child. I am not here to complain or shy away from the responsibility that has chosen me. All children need a little understanding, respect and love.

As a matter of fact, adults too need these!

Have a great start to the week!
