You can call me Noi! This blog consists of my thoughts. I am just a simple person with BIG dreams! Like the charcoal, hot pressure and extreme heat must be present in order to create a Diamond. I am in the exact same process.

Welcoming Syawal / Sunday, September 20, 2009 @ 1:13 AM
Welcoming Syawal
Hola!
Eid Mubarak to all my Muslim friends! I still cannot believe that its Syawal already after Ramadhan simply sped by me too fast for me to even catch up. Nevertheless, I look forward to seeing the family and friends for Eid gatherings. Its only at this time of the year that we get to meet and get together. We are all so busy most of the time and every year everyone gets busier with new children, new spouse, new job etc. Getting together is really a challenge at times but I am glad that I have friends who are determined to not let this be a reason not to meet.
Social events. Hmm, when was the last time I went to one? I guess as one gets older, social events takes on a whole new meaning. I sometimes feel its a waste of time to get together, drink, eat, chill. I used to spend all my time doing THAT, a while ago. I shall not say its part of getting older, its just that I discovered more worthwhile things to do with my time. Do not get me wrong, I am not saying that its bad to do it, even I look forward to such events especially with friends I have not met in a long time. I realised that when we do not get to do it often, and when we finally get together, its simply sweet and enriching. Thats what makes it so special.
For instance, this year, for the first time, I had an iftar session with my colleagues. I do not know why we never did this is the last 2 years I was there. Haha. Too busy? Perhaps. This year was madness too, with the iftar session happening right smack in the middle of PSLE period. BUT, it went on anyway. Thats the great thing!

First time for me eating at Breeks! Food was great and yes I ate this sinful ice cream that taste so gooooooodddddddddddddddd. I cannot even remember the last time I had ice cream and I have been craving for one for so long.
This Ramadhan to me was special because of these: - I get to break fast together with britt team mates almost every week. We hardly eat together before open meeting because its usually such a rush meeting guests. - I get to break fast with my dear colleagues. - I get to do workouts as per normal.
I sometimes feel like I am an ambassador in the gym. Suddenly I have people talking to me and asking questions about fasting and Islam in general. That includes the instructors and staffs. Most of them are amazed that I can still do workouts as per normal even in this fasting month. I always make sure I end on a positive note because nothing about the religion is negative and somehow I felt that I had to be responsible of projecting a positive image of Islam to my new non muslim friends. I also cannot remember the countless times I explained (to different people) why I have to wear the tudung in the gym, even though its an all ladies gym. As most of my favourite instructors are guys, I have no choice do I?
I also felt like I got closer to the staffs there and sometimes we do share food during breaking of fast. I remember Wahida, this lady behind the counter at parkmall announcing that its already maghrib and I can start eating. Did you know people get closer when they share food? My packet of grapes was shared by so many people and in the last week of Ramadhan, people were just tucking into it. They used to wait for me to offer but now they see me and everyone just start to dig in. I like that, no need to be so formal anymore.
I spent the last 2 night cleaning and I am finally done. Mum was nagging non stop. Why do parents nag even when we are adults?!!
I shall update more soon! Hopefully my dear relatives will not ask me the same question they ask me every year!! My answer does not change and when it does change, they won't need to ask, I will be the first to share!!
Salam aidifitri. Semoga segala kesilapan dariku dapat dimaafkanmu, sessungguh tiada yang disengajakan. Selamat kembali, Syawal.
