You can call me Noi! This blog consists of my thoughts. I am just a simple person with BIG dreams! Like the charcoal, hot pressure and extreme heat must be present in order to create a Diamond. I am in the exact same process.

Its Time To Read!

Finally today I had some time to bake the chocolate chip cookies that I have been craving to do. Yay! Since this is the first time I am baking cookies in more than 10 years, I was prepared for any kind of mishaps. However, apart from the size of cookies being irregular, there was not much mishaps! The cookies taste great and I have a whole jar of it. It can be better though, I have problem making all the cookies regular in size. Weird. Its actually from an instant mix I got from the supermarket so please dont give me any credits for being able to mix well:p

Oh yes, this experience was not inspired by Mr Fab's recent experience with a cookie. Dont flatter yourself Mr Fab.

Anyway, my holidays are almost over and classes start next week. I shall be in DAS next week while Ulf and the rest will be in ARC as they are majoring in autism. I am glad though that most of my closer friends will be majoring dyslexia as well so its not going to be too lonely. I have been asked several times why I chose dyslexia over austism even though I had more experience working with kids with ASD like my darling Yong Huat. For me, it was an easy decision. You see, I love reading and writing and I cannot imagine growing up not being able to read all the wonderful fiction books that I read during childhood. I was a bookworm from the start. I simply love it! I think this has helped me a lot in my writing and that explains why I love English so much.

For kids or adults with dyslexia, reading is a constant challenge. Can you imagine not being able to read what you want? It will lead you to constant frustrations, not to mention the low self esteem when being compared to your peers. During the interview process, I had a friend, who was dyslexic herself. She was eighteen and you can tell by the number of spelling errors that she is truly dyslexic. However, she has decided to double and triple her work and effort and her persistence and belief in herself wins my admiration. She also mentions about having just one teacher who believed that in her ability instead of disability. She moved me so much that I wish she was not halfway across the world away from me so I can give her the hug.

Lisa, ImNeo and myself, being the biggest bookworms in the team, have taken turns in mentioning about the joys of reading. Fir is coming close to becoming one of us though. We have all mentioned this before:

If you can read, and you dont, you are as good as someone who is illiterate.

I do realise that not everyone love to read but what they are missing is the gift of being able to read. There are so many ways to be inspired and reading is just one of them. Thanks to the business, I rediscovered by joy in reading again which was once lost during teenagehood no thanks to the insensitivity of my teachers back then.

Being able to read is also a chance to get yourself lost into another realm, away from reality. Sometimes our brain need that place where it can get away from reality just for a short while. You will feel much better and will most definitely be a happier person!

I was in Borders and Popular with Naf last week and I asked her to help make sure that I do not spend all my money on buying books. I have not been to a bookstore in ages due to my hectic schedule and I discovered so many books that I want to read! In fact one of my biggest fear is not being able to read all the books I have at home. To date, I have 14 books not read yet sitting at my bookshelves. Haha. I have a queue of books waiting to be read at home and this obsession with wanting to get more books is incurable. I also told myself that I am going to get myself publish no matter what! Woohoo.

As you can see, I am back in the renting business. Take some time to visit my tenant for this week: Taking a Sanity Break. It was actually an wasy choice for me as I am a fan of the blog really! Her site is autumn themed and its beautiful! I am so jealous! Its really neat and I aspire to have my blog that neat someday. Her lastest post about vacation time is so cute that I promise you will go through it with a chuckle of two.

Dont forget to tell her I sent ya!
