Clean up to save your health / Sunday, June 03, 2007 @ 5:28 PM
Clean up to save your health It is Sunday and I am at home all day. This is truly a rare phenomena. I decided to take some time to clean up my room. My room is generally neat but as I get busier and cannot be bothered to put things back to where they belong, it gets messier. Plus, the dust seems to be thickening itself so I decided to use my power tool (my favourite cleaner, LOC) and so some serious cleaning.
I was just about to start when I started sneezing like crazy. My nose is pretty sensitive and I sneeze when there is presence of dust. Cleaning should be a weekly thing. It can actually save your health, rather than you breathing in all the dust and germs. There is just so many things at home which should be in school. I am taking all files and cards to school. I am not going to do any work at home anyway. There is no point keeping all the stuffs for kids at home. After cleaning, this was the result: ![]() Plus, I think there a silent competition in the staffroom. I think the teachers are having a competition to see who has the highest pile of books and papers on their workstation. Yah, just one look around and you will know what I am talking about. As promised, I am here to talk about BBS! Yay! Firstly, I thought I was going to be free on Friday except for the induction. It was boring. I do not even know why I am at the induction because I have already gone for the first induction. Thank goodness, Kok Soon called me just in time to save me from touring around the school. I was then roped into his meeting about the kids with special needs in his class. There is so many of them, I wonder why they are all put together in the same class. Next term, he will be co-teaching the class with Shai, the new teacher who looks extremely boyish. Planning is always a headache. I am saving my last week of the school holidays just to plan the schedule of lessons for the boys. Since there were no food in the canteen, I had to go out to buy food for lunch and I had Vic for company. However when it was time to go back to school, it started pouring heavily. I was in jeans and my whole jeans was soaking wet! Thank goodness I had slippers on. I was then roped into helping Cat with the records of students with special needs. Again, there is so many records. this lasted all the way until I rushed home. I left school at 4.30 and while I was walking to the bus stop, I suddenly cant remember where I placed the BBS tickets? I searched my handbag like a mad woman but I could not find it. In my moment of panic, I missed flagging the bus. The next bus only arrived at 5pm and I was so worried and stressed all the way that I could not help but panicked more. This is really stupid, I dont usually misplace important things like this. I arrived home at 5.30 and rushed to check every bag in my room. Guess where were the tickets? It was in between this book I was reading. So careless of me! All the unnecessary stress! After clearing up some issues about the purchasing of resources with Fifi, I had to rush getting ready for BBS. I arrived at the PUB auditorium at 7.30 sharp..that was pretty late. The speaker was from Malaysia and he spoke perfectly broken English all throughout the night! His wife was from a poor family. It always touches me to see people transform their lives from being poor to being wealthy. This kind of success story never fails to inspires me. Anyway, Emeralds Alan Tay was so funny! He speaks like Phua Chu Kang, if you know what I mean. He reminds me of the apeks selling durian. So simple but so rich in money and other things of higher value than money. He paid the price and now he has got the prize. We were asked to ask ourselves, what kind of life do we want? Do not look at the circumstances. There are many others who are faces with many other challenging circumstances. A winner is not one who wins in favourable moments. A winner is one who wins despite unfavourable circumstances. You are built to conquer circumstances, solve problems and attain goals. You wil find no real satisfaction in life without obstacles to conquer, goals to achieve and a purpose to accomplish. Happiness comes when we abandon ourselves for a purpose. His sense of humour kept us laughing throughout the night! I think it was not easy for him to speak 100% English but he did it anyway. I was inspired and uplifted, I am sure those who were there would agree with me. I think it is about time I get back on track and gain the momentum that was once lost. My goal to have 4 of my team members up on stage during FED recognition as new pin breakers. We shall achieve it! In the meantime, please pray for Najiha's auntie and Nurul's cousin who recently passed away. They will always be in our prayers. This is a reminder for us, that death can come anytime to anyone. Therefore, choose to make full use of your time. |
