You can call me Noi! This blog consists of my thoughts. I am just a simple person with BIG dreams! Like the charcoal, hot pressure and extreme heat must be present in order to create a Diamond. I am in the exact same process.

Basic knowledge you die die must know

Door

Please pardon me for my usage of the singlish language in my tittle. It is Saturday today, too fast for me! I went for Irlen screening training in the morning at Shifa's school. Thank you Ms Shifa for organising, its really awesome and I am glad I came because I think I will most probably purchase the kit. I was extremely sleepy in the morning and I had a hard time getting up. Its usually the case for me every Saturday. This maybe because my Fridays are usually such long days, from dawn to midnight so by Saturday all my energy is gone, well at least until I take my double x.

This is the door of my classroom. I wanted to do the door during the holidays and I did it. Yay! It was of course a lot of work but it is now done and when the students come back, I can always refer back to this door for positive behaviour. I realise I needed to do this when some students are still blur and unsure what is negative. Therefore, I listed all (ok not all, but mostly) examples of negative and positive behaviour. I had no idea that my fonts were really large and I had to leave 2 cards out of this door. I guess I was a bit worried my students could not see it especially the short ones.

Why I decided to do this is because I did not want to be the teacher who only teaches reading, spelling and writing. I wanted to add value to these students so that when do grow up, they remember that Miss Afni once taught them how to be the kind of person that they themselves will be proud of. I was skipping through the headlines of the newspaper and realise that many unwanted happenings are the results of people lacking the one skill that they so needed most - common sense.

Thus the tittle of this blog entry.

Let me explain things SHOULD be done, but not done.

When you get a missed call from someone in your handphone, you should:

1. SMS the person back or

2. Call the person back

Not doing either (1) or (2) means that:

1. You do not know how your phone works or

2. You are just plain ignorant/rude and do not care about other people

Simple right? I used to not return calls that I missed. This was because people ALWAYS accidently call me just because for most of them, I am the first name in their phonebook. After a while I realised it was quite rude not to call back and it made me seem like such a blur queen. So now I do call or sms people back- out of courtesy. Of course there are times when people do accidently call me, but I use the short time on the phone to check how things are with them. Big deal right?

I also realised that Margaret ALWAYS call me back whenever my call is missed. Sometimes she would call me a few hours later because she was doing STP or with a client, but she always calls back. I simply wanted to duplicate her.

Apart from that, let's look at how we ask people questions. I think most of us do not know how to ask questions. For instance, when you ask someone a question, is it because:

1. You are a busybody, and want to know about others even though its got nothing to do with you.

2. You do not think before you speak.

3. You ask because you may have a way to help them.

Unless your answer is (3), you should not ask people questions. Unless you are building relationship with the person you are talking to, even that so, there are proper etiquette that you have to abide. Your questions should not make that person feel bad, sad or upset. In other words, your questions should not remind them of something , someone that, that person does not want to think about.

Something you might want to think about before asking all kinds of questions that will not benefit you or anyone else. Look at my door for the defination of 'negative'.

It is almost Sunday. Hooray. Enjoy your Sunday!
